Jeff Ireland effectively saved his job with the selection of Ryan Tannehill as the Miami Dolphins first-round pick last April.
Had Tannehill been a Blaine Gabbert-level misfire, Ireland would almost have certainly used the last of his nine lives as Dolphins general manager.
