Tim Floyd Staying at USC

After all the posturing and the reports that an announcement was imminent, it now appears that Tim Floyd is staying at USC.  The talks seemed to stall earlier in the day as Memphis was also pursuing the Trojans Head Coach.

USC and Floyd are expect to hold a news conference at 5:00pm PDT to make the announcement.  Both ESPN radio in Phoenix and the L.A. Times reported that Floyd had met with Arizona Athletic Director Jim Livengood to work out details of his hiring.

According to the Tucson Citizen, Floyd returned Wednesday night to Los Angeles.

Where Arizona goes from here is anyone's guess.  They have already been turned down for interviews by Rick Pitino, Tom Izzo, Mark Few and Jamie Dixon.  St. Mary's Randy Bennett and former Sacramento Kings and New Mexico State coach Reggie Theus have been names mentioned.

The entire situation is becoming embarrassing.  It now looks like it is going to take Arizona many years to return to the nation's elite programs.
