WWE Raw Results: Episode Teases Possible Tamina Snuka vs. Kaitlyn Feud
On Monday's Raw, if fans blinked their eyes they missed Kaitlyn defeating Alicia Fox and WWE hinting at a feud between the new Divas champ and Tamina Snuka.
The newly crowned Divas champ dominated Alicia with Tamina looking on.
Kaitlyn didn't get nearly as passionate a response from the San Jose crowd than she did in her hometown of Houston. She sauntered down the ring with the Divas title in hand, now on top of a division with few legitimate challengers.
A handful of moves in, Kaitlyn speared Alicia for the quick win. It looks official that she's abandoned the fireman's carry gutbuster for the spear as a finisher.
It's a fitting move for a woman as strong as her, and judging by her recent Tweet, she seems pretty excited by it.
Oh man, I think I just found my new favorite flavor of gum. "SPEARmint". Boom. #RAW— Kaitlyn (@KaitlynWWE) January 22, 2013
During the match, the cameras cut to Tamina watching the action backstage. She glared on as Michael Cole mentioned that Tamina's goal is to be the next Divas champ.
With Eve gone from the company, Kaitlyn needs a worthy foe to help make her title reign as interesting as possible.
Tamina is as an excellent option for that role.
Unless WWE decides to make current NXT trainer Sara Del Rey a wrestler again or should the company decide to take Natalya seriously at some point, they'd be fitting opponents as well. As it stands, it looks like Tamina vs. Kaitlyn is the best option up for grabs.
These two women met several times when they both performed for NXT. Their matches featured a compelling level of intensity and a touch of brutality that highlighted both Kaitlyn and Tamina's power.
If this feud does come to pass, it will be a stark contrast from many of the model vs. model matches WWE has featured. The beginning of Kaitlyn's reign has the potential to feature some quality wrestling.
With WWE's tendency to give its women the smallest sliver of the limelight, fans shouldn't have high expectations, though.
It's not likely to be a prominent feud fueled by storylines that get sufficient airtime. Still, Kaitlyn vs. Tamina is a case of WWE fitting the pieces of the Divas puzzle in sensible fashion.
