Miami Football Recruiting: Hurricanes National Signing Day Wish List
Although the Miami Hurricanes already have 14 recruits who have verbally committed (last I heard Al Golden is only going to recruit 15), there are several more that could still possibly sign a letter of intent with the Canes' come February 6.
According to ESPN.com there are over 40 recruits that have Miami as a school they may possibly pick. Obviously the Hurricanes can't get them all, but here is my wish list on what players I hope they can snag on signing day.
*Note: None of the players in the slide have committed to any school as of 1/22/13 with the exception of Rashard Robinson. Also my list does not include any player that has already verbally committed to the University of Miami.
Mackensie Alexander, CB
Notes: Mackensie Alexander is rated the No. 2 cornerback in the country according to ESPN.com. If you have seen any of his game film, you may wonder who the heck is No. 1.
Alexander is a true cornerback in every sense of the word, as he is able to cover and has terrific closing speed. With the Hurricanes losing two cornerbacks from last season's squad (Thomas Finnie and Brandon McGee), Alexander would be a terrific player to complement Artie Burns and Tracy Howard.
Rashard Robinson, CB
Notes: Although Rashard Robinson has verbally committed to LSU, the Hurricanes were tops on his list last season.
If Al Golden can sway Robinson away from the Tigers, it would be huge as Robinson has a lot of upside, and as stated in the previous slide, the Hurricanes need depth at corner.
Laremy Tunsil, OT
Full Laremy Tunsil Scouting Report
Notes: Laremy Tunsil has had Miami on his short list for some time, and although I don't think he picks Miami, you just never know with these kids.
Tunsil is the No. 1-rated offensive tackle in the country, and he could certainly add depth to an already-stacked offensive line at Miami.
Derrick Green, RB
Notes: Remember this is my wish list and one of the players I would love in orange and green next year is 5-star running back Derrick Green.
Green is an extremely strong and quick running back that would complement Duke Johnson in the Hurricanes' patented pro-style offense. Although I believe he will pick Michigan, it doesn't hurt to dream of this stud coming to Miami.
Keith Bryant, DT
Notes: Keith Bryant had originally committed to Miami last year but de-committed and is most likely at a stand-still between Miami and FSU. He recently visited Miami and supposedly enjoyed his visit.
Many fans have stated that he is overrated (4-star) and don't even want Bryant on the team next season.
Not me, I would kill for Bryant as I believe once he gets into the U Tough program at Miami, he will get into better shape and become the run-stuffer Miami so desperately needs.
Denver Kirkland, OT
Notes: Offensive tackle Denver Kirkland has still not made his decision on what school he is going to attend next season, but I honestly believe Miami will be his choice.
The Miami native (Booker T. Washington High School) is an extremely talented offensive lineman that can blow defenders off the ball at any time.
Although the Hurricanes have a tremendous line already, this would be a huge pickup for the future.
Matthew Thomas, LB
Notes: There isn't anyone else in the recruiting class that I would be more excited to land than 5-star outside linebacker Matthew Thomas.
Thomas is an extremely gifted player that will eventually will be playing on Sundays. He is a very quick linebacker with a non-stop motor and can get off blockers better than anyone in the country.
I honestly don't see the Hurricanes snagging Thomas, but then again, he still has Miami on his short list making him a dream recruit for me.
Jay-nard Bostwick, DT
Notes: Jay-nard Bostwick recently visited Miami and fell in love with the school. The 4-star defensive tackle out of Port St. Lucie would be terrific player for the Hurricanes to get, especially considering how questionable the defensive line currently is.
Bostwick is a very strong player and added a little bit of weight could certainly have him competing for a starting position as early as this season.
Alex Collins, RB
Notes: 4-star running back Alex Collins recently visited Miami and is supposedly still on the fence to what school he will choose. According to some people, Miami is still Collins' top choice, although I really believes he chooses another one.
I would love to have Collins in orange and green this season. He is a big running back with good speed and would complement Duke Johnson, much like Derrick Green could.
It's my wish list; might as well get Green and Collins in Hurricane uniforms!
