Unless you've recently won the lottery and married a super model, New York Mets third baseman David Wright is having a better winter than you.
Just several weeks after signing a massive eight-year, $138 million contract with the Mets, Wright reportedly became engaged to his long-time girlfriend Molly Beers on Sunday (h/t Adam Rubin, ESPNNewYork.com).
This is yet another home run for the six-time All-Star. Wright and Beers have been dating since 2008, and although no wedding date has been set, it appears the 30-year-old Wright is ready to tie the knot.
You can't blame him for settling down, as Beers is absolutely gorgeous. The stunning brunette works for the Ford Model Agency in New York, which would seemingly make her a prime candidate to marry the best player on the Mets.
Unfortunately for New York, Beers cannot throw a mean knuckleball like former Met R.A. Dickey, so it's unlikely this marriage will help them rise in the NL East standings. The Mets finished fourth in their division last season with a disappointing 74-88 record.
Their struggles occurred despite the strong play from Wright. The eight-year veteran had one of the best seasons of his career, as he hit .306 with 21 home runs and 93 RBI. He also finished third in the National League in walks (81) and fifth in OPS (.883).
However, as good as his season was, life got even better for Wright once the Mets were eliminated. With a fattened bank account and a lovely new fiancee, it's certainly good to be David Wright these days.
