When you’ve waited four months to play an NHL game, why not go to overtime, then a shootout? The Edmonton Oilers got a beautiful backhand from Jordan Eberle late in the second period, then a softie by Ales Hemsky late in the third that squeezed past the arm of Canucks goaltender Roberto Luongo to climb out of a 2-0 hole before winning 3-2 in the shootout at Rogers Arena Sunday night.
