Boston Red Sox, Manny Ramirez

Okay, so it's August again. And as always, my partner Steve is petrified that the Red Sox will wilt.

My partner Eric and I are Yankees fans. Steve grew up in Greenwich CT but was born in Brighton MA, where his grandfather owned an Irish bar.So naturally, the fur flies in the office beginning this time of year.

The good thing about being a Yankees fan is confidence. Sometimes it's overconfidence, but usually the Yankees reach deep from nowhere and pull out a playoff berth.

Even with the new, post-John Henry Red Sox, Boston fans (exemplified by my partner Steve) are Nervous Nellies. They KNOW the Red Sox will die in the last 25 games, even if the Red Sox pull it out.Meanwhile, Steve writes constant e-mails to me and Eric, and signs every e-mail "Manny."

Bring on October! And make it a good October, where the Yankees and Red Sox both make the playoffs and the ALCS!

  1. I can't believe the Yankees. For a while there I really though they were going to "crash and burn" and constantly teased Yankees fans that their season was over. Well I was wrong and it is absolutely true that Yankees fans have a right to be confident.

  2. With nearly a 200 million dollar payroll this year, who wouldn't be confident. However, I still have to lean more to the Yanks than the BoSox simply due to history, and not to the payroll. Plus A-Rod is ballin' right now, and this is coming from a Cards fan. Touche.

  3. Amen! Bring on the postseason! Of course I really want us (the Yanks) to win it all, however if we crash and burn in the first round despite A-Rod going 15/15 with 3 HR and 12 RBIs, I would be content...not happy, but content. Right now the Yanks are down 7-0 to the Tigers and I'm waiting for the breaking news that we've traded Mike Mussina in the middle of the game for a bag of Doritos and a large Root Beer.
