After four interviews in a six-day period, Jay Gruden’s ride on the NFL’s coaching carousel ended on Thursday when Arizona filled the last head coach opening with Bruce Arians.

Gruden interviewed with Arizona, San Diego, Philadelphia and Jacksonville. The good news is that the openings were filled before the coaching staff takes off for the Senior Bowl in Mobile, Ala. The first practice is on Monday.

Said Gruden of the process: “It was a good experience. It was an honor to be on those guys’ lists and to be able to talk football and philosophies. You also learn that there are a lot of issues in a lot of different positions and sometimes our problems are not as bad.”
