Notre Dame's Manti Te'o and Bizarre Girlfriend Hoax Get Taiwanese Animation
There may be only a handful of you out there who are caught unaware of the firestorm hitting Notre Dame and their star linebacker, Manti Te'o, at the moment.
For those, take the time to read Deadspin's article on the girlfriend who wasn't.
This was the column that pretty much grabbed the attention of the entire nation and at the same time destroyed any amount of understanding we may have about the subject.
So you can see how the usually odd and hilarious animations from NMA.tv work perfectly with this increasingly ludicrous story.
Pretty much everything we know up to this point is shown, with the exception of the emotional address from Notre Dame AD Jack Swarbrick.
We are forced to believe that Te'o was duped for a prolonged amount of time by social media hoodlums who faked a girlfriend who would later die so suddenly.
Yet, we still can't wrap our brains around a claim so audacious without thinking the worst about Te'o. For now, we hope the charges that he was simply gullible hold true, because the alternative is just too awful.
As for the animation, you would struggle to find something so brutal.
They show him weeping while he imagines his faux girlfriend, and then go on to make light of the situation, even showing leprechauns getting him hammered in a very, um, peculiar way.
We are a long way from finding any amount of understanding in all this mess, but we will certainly be captivated along the way.
