Cruiserweight titleholder Yoan Pablo Hernandez broke his left hand during a sparring session, forcing his defense against Eric Fields to be called off on Thursday, promoter Sauerland Event announced. Hernandez (27-1, 13 KOs), a southpaw, was slated to make his third title defense against Oklahoma's Fields (21-1, 15 KOs) at Max-Schmeling-Halle in Berlin, Germany on Feb. 2. Sauerland Event said the card would go on with Eduard Gutknecht (24-1, 9 KOs) still making the fourth defense of the European light heavyweight title against former world champ Juergen Braehmer (38-2, 30 KOs) in the main event.
