Lance Armstrong's Girlfriend Anna Hansen: Sticking by the Shamed Cyclist
It may be difficult to see around Lance Armstrong, but the woman who continues to stand by his side in support during this tumultuous time is his partner Anna Hansen.
We might understand if you haven't heard of Hansen. The spotlight of scrutiny on Armstrong may be so bright it nearly drowns out all of those around him.
As written in a recent Yahoo! Sports article by Dan Wetzel, the relationships surrounding the shamed cyclist have been just as scrutinized as the doping allegations.
While Armstrong continues to get hit with vitriol for how he treated past colleagues, his most important ally continues to be Hansen, his girlfriend and the mother of two of his five children.
The couple shocked the nation back in December of 2008 when they announced they were expecting a child.
As noted in a CNN report at the time, Armstrong suffered testicular cancer and underwent chemotherapy in 1996 that left him without the ability to have children.
While he had three children at that time with former wife Kristin Richards, those pregnancies were aided with sperm donated before he underwent the harsh treatment.
Not only were Hansen and Armstrong able to enjoy the birth of one child, they managed to get pregnant yet again.
In October 2010, Olivia Marie Armstrong followed her older brother, Maxwell Edward, into the world.
It is not known whether the two are looking to get married. I would imagine that is the last thing on their agenda. The first is wading through a doping scandal that will soon play out across the nation in an interview with Oprah Winfrey on Thursday and Friday.
Armstrong was married to Richards from 1998 to 2003 when they then filed for divorce. Shortly after, Armstrong began dating and eventually became engaged to singer Sheryl Crow.
The world will be watching Armstrong for some long-awaited answers, and Hansen will continue to be by his side in support.
