It seems the Baltimore Ravens comeback victory over the Denver Broncos has had a lasting and hobbling effect on Mayor Michael Hancock, who was hurt warming up to perform the Ray Lewis dance.

The Denver Post reports the Denver mayor was trying to make good on a bet he made, only to injure himself when attempting to limber up.

I once threw my back out sneezing, so we refrain from lobbing too many barbs in his direction. Old age is a hell of a drug.

The initial bet was previously reported in the Denver Post, and issued that Baltimore Mayor Stephanie Rawlings-Blake would have had to send some crab cakes to Denver had the Ravens lost.

On the flip side, Hancock would have had to send some dry-aged rib eyes out to the Baltimore mayor, as well as get down and boogie by performing the classic Ray Lewis Dance.

For those uninitiated, here is the Ray Lewis dance, in light show form thanks to the Marriott Waterfront in Harbor East.

It seems Hancock is ready to perform the dance, just not yet, according to The Denver Post

The mayor's spokeswoman Amber Miller says he was hurt "during pre-game warm-ups."

Hancock is "expected to be on the field in the second half, ready to carry out the game plan and fulfill his end of the wager," she said.

By that report, it seems Hancock injured himself practicing the dance, which would be salt in the wound of a man already in emotional pain after a close Broncos loss.

However, this Denver 9 News report has some other information.

Miller said Hancock caught his boot during an event at the National Western Stock Show and severely strained his right quadriceps - preventing him from executing the Lewis dance to the utmost ability.

Whatever the case, it seems like the Denver Mayor will be listed as day-to-day, and ready to pull off the Lewis dance when his quad is feeling healthy.

As for the steaks, I hope for Rawlings-Blake's sake that they are in the mail, because those sound delicious.
