There’s been no shortage of defencemen who have come into Edmonton in recent seasons and failed to live up to their billing: Kurtis Foster, Jim Vandermeer, Cam Barker.

The failure of so many of these signings has left me somewhat skeptical of the Edmonton Oilers’ ability to bring in useful low-pairing d-men, though Andy Sutton and Corey Potter did a passable job it’s fair to say.
