NFL Playoffs 2013: Funniest NFL Memes for Each Remaining Playoff Team
There are four teams left in the 2013 NFL Playoffs and each one of them will have a shot at a Super Bowl appearance.
Four more teams lost this weekend to set the NFL Final Four. Whenever a team loses, or wins, the Internet comes alive with an abundant supply of jokes or memes.
For those of you who don’t know, memes are images that are passed electronically from one Internet user to another.
Those images usually will have words or captions that are in some way funny and humorous to the masses.
Memes are quickly taking the Internet by storm so I have hand-picked the funniest ones for every remaining playoff team based on the Divisional Round.
A huge reason for the Atlanta Falcons big 30-28 win over the Seattle Seahawks was a dynamic passing game.
Matt Ryan had 250 yards and three touchdowns on Sunday, shaking the playoff monkey off his back. A significant factor to those numbers is an impressive receiving corps.
Roddy White, Julio Jones and Tony Gonzalez are all monsters in the passing game. However, there simply isn’t enough attempts for every one of those superstars to have a huge game.
White had five receptions for 76 yards. Gonzalez had six receptions for 51 yards and Jones had six catches for 59 yards.
Matty Ice did a nice job of getting everyone involved, another key to victory.
But White and Gonzalez both had touchdowns whereas Jones didn’t reach the end zone once.
He made up for it, though, by picking off Russell Wilson in the games final moments to seal the victory for Atlanta.
Also, his face in the picture is just precious.
San Francisco 49ers
The San Francisco 49ers demolished the Green Bay Packers behind a history performance by Colin Kaepernick.
The first-year starter threw for 263 yards and two touchdowns. He added 181 yards on the ground—the most for a quarterback in a playoff game—and found the end zone an additional two more times.
All told, the Pack had a long plane road home after a 45-31 loss.
This meme pokes fun at how throughly Green Bay got beat by referencing their famous icon. The team is nicknamed the “Cheeseheads” and many Packers fans literally wear cheese on their heads to support the club.
Well, San Fran grated that cheese into tiny, shredded pieces.
Obviously, Packers fans won’t like this one, but Niners fans could stare at this graphic all day.
Fans got an inside look at what exactly Joe Flacco’s wristband said during a thrilling 38-35 double-overtime victory against Peyton Manning and his Denver Broncos.
The Ravens have rallied around the last hurrah of Lewis to pull off two victories in a row and set themselves up for an AFC Championship rematch with the New England Patriots.
However, this wristband wasn’t encouraging the star quarterback to win the game in honor of the future Hall of Famer, but instead to not face the wrath of the highly upbeat Lewis.
The joke pokes fun at an incident in 2000 where he was suspected of murder by stabbing. Many fans believe that Lewis “got away” by just being charged for obstruction of justice. Lots of questions still remain about that night and what actually happened.
No one will know all the details, but we will know that the mock threat worked as Flacco threw for 331 yards and three touchdowns in the win.
New England Patriots
New England is known for having a crazy amount of weapons surrounding Hall of Fame quarterback Tom Brady.
That was on display during a 41-28 victory over the Houston Texans. Superstar Rob Gronkowski went down with injury early in the game, but the Patriots offense didn’t miss a beat.
Shane Vereen was the player that stepped up this time as he rushed for 41 yards and a score, in addition to reeling in five receptions for 83 yards and two touchdowns.
Brady threw for threw for 344 yards and three touchdowns with a 115 passer rating.
Stevan Ridley rushed for 82 yards on the ground and found the end zone. Wes Welker had 131 receiving yards while Aaron Hernandez totaled 85 yards in that department and Brandon Lloyd went for a touchdown.
Many of those offensive players were coached up by Bill Belichick and the head coach also has a reputation for being dark and many non-Patriot fans have called him an “evil genius.”
This meme pokes fun at the firepower the Patriots have while also taking a shot at Belichick. "The Hoodie" will probably be diabolically laughing all the way to New Orleans as his team is a favorite to win the Super Bowl.
BONUS: Denver Broncos
I just had to include this one.
The Broncos lost a tough game to the aforementioned Baltimore Ravens and many fans placed the blame on Peyton Manning. The All-Star quarterback threw an interception deep in overtime that would ultimately cost Denver the game.
Of course, there were many other contributing factors to the loss, but whenever you can get a Tony Romo joke in and a Manning struggle face appearance, it becomes a good day.
This meme, and the loss, will sting fans in the Mile High City, though.
