Wilfried Zaha appears to be closing in on a new home, as Manchester United are looking to sign the youngster.
According to Football.co.uk, United is close to signing Zaha on a £15m transfer. Manchester United needs to move quickly to finalize a transfer deal for Zaha to make sure Arsenal or Tottenham can't swoop in and grab him.
Zaha revealed his footballing fate on Twitter before quickly deleting the tweet. The tweet read, "Looks like i'm on my way to the top of the premier league" before disappearing and being replaced with another tweet: "I don't remember tweeting no such thing so I don't know where the tweet came from #confused."
While that appears to be good news for Manchester United supporters, it opens the door for another club to improve their offer knowing that a deal is looming. Arsenal and Tottenham have recently been mentioned as being interested. Even if United still ends up with Zaha, it could cost them more had they not moved more quickly.
The 20-year old Zaha is seen as one of next up-and-coming players in England. The winger made his debut for the England national side in November in a 4-2 loss to Sweden.
Regardless of the club buying, Crystal Palace is keen on keeping Zaha with the Championship side through the rest of the season.
According to Wayne Veysey of Goal.com, Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger wants to have Zaha join the squad immediately. On the other hand, Manchester United is on board to allow a loan back to Crystal Palace so Zaha can see out the promotion battle.
This could sway a decision in favor of Arsenal should Crystal Palace decide it's better to just let Zaha leave in the January window. Although, a willingness to let Zaha finish out the season at Crystal Palace should help United.
Signing Zaha would add an exciting young prospect to the Manchester United squad. His speed and strength on the wing will give him chances to play next season. His creativity with the ball at his feet make him quite the exciting player as well.
If Manchester United are serious about signing Zaha during this transfer window, they need to act quickly and get the move done.
