Charlotte Officials to Discuss Panthers’ Plan for BofA Stadium Renovation

The Charlotte City Council is expected to discuss in closed session Monday evening a request by the Carolina Panthers to help pay for renovations to Bank of America Stadium, according to people familiar with the team’s proposal.

The team has been working on a long-term renovation plan for the 17-year-old stadium, and the city has indicated it would be willing to help pay for upgrades. Monday’s closed session meeting is believed to be the first time council members discuss a firm financing plan.

Last year, council members voted in closed session and directed city staff to meet with the team. The city will reportedly consider raising Mecklenburg County’s hotel/motel occupancy tax to help pay for the renovations...
