Manchester City supporters found an unexpected friend after watching their team defeat Arsenal 2-0 at the Emirates Stadium on Sunday.

After goals from James Milner and Edin Dzeko secured City's first league win at the Gunners' home ground for 37 years, the players shook hands with referee Mike Dean and his linesmen.

But, after many City fans boycotted the game over the price of tickets, linesman John Brooks told Joleon Lescott and his teammates to go over and thank those supporters who had traveled to north London.

After the dismissal of Arsenal defender Laurent Koscielny and the controversial red card for City captain Vincent Kompany during the match, we wonder if the officials were happy to turn attention elsewhere.
