What a season for all the Geordie fans it has been.

Plunged to their  lowest ebb for many years, could there be some light at the end of the tunnel?

It was confirmed tonight that Alan Shearer has stepped in to try to save the club he loves from the financial and footballing disaster relegation would bring.

If the rumours are true the deciding factor was not money, or a long term involvement thereafter -but simply that Alan Shearer felt that he HAD  to do all he could to save HIS club.

Is it too little too late or could he save them from the drop?
