ATHENS -- In order to appreciate what happened to Blair Walsh, how remarkable and unlikely his turn of fate, you have to go back. You have to go back to the most painful moment.
It was the first day of last year. Walsh, then the senior place-kicker for the Georgia football team, culminated an awful season with an awful ending. It was written after last year’s Outback Bowl that the final image of Georgia’s season was, “Walsh, standing helpless and exasperated, the football he had kicked bouncing downfield.”
