The effort was evident. The execution was not.

After losing to No. 8 Minnesota at home Wednesday, Illinois is trying to serve equal doses of toughness and production in a game that will call for both. The No. 12 Illini play their ninth game away from Assembly Hall this season on Saturday, when they visit Wisconsin.

"Our effort level has to match our execution," coach John Groce said.
