The Toronto Maple Leafs have signed Chris Hanson, the son of Dave Hanson from the cult classic film “Slap Shot”.

"We are excited to have Christian signed to a contract, and look forward to seeing him play for our organization," said Maple Leafs GM Brian Burke in a media release this morning.

"He is a very intelligent hockey player who has good size and a solid scoring touch around the net."

At 6'4" and 225 pounds, Hanson is considered to be a big two-way centre that scored 16 goals, 15 assists, and 28 in 37 games for Notre Dame this season.
