With Notre Dame losing in the national championship to Alabama, four-star linebacker Alex Anzalone has decided that he will add to the heartache of the folks in South Bend.

Instead of suiting up for the Irish next season, Anzalone has decommitted and will take his talents to the Florida Gators.

Irish Illustrated was one of the first to report the news:

Rivals100 LB Alex Anzalone has de-committed from #NotreDame, plans to enroll early at #Florida. Details ($): bit.ly/VRYUT6

— Irish Illustrated (@NDatRivals) January 10, 2013

Turns out the sudden reaction is because of head coach Brian Kelly interviewing for the possible Philadelphia Eagles job, as 247Sports reported.

This isn't the first time Anzalone has been in the news for something like this, as he decommitted from the Ohio State Buckeyes in early 2012 after a weird incident with a convicted sex offender. This decommitment just added fuel to the fire for a fanbase that is already upset at having its perfect season end so suddenly. He was expected to enroll to Notre Dame this week, but decided to flip-flop once again.

So once fans discovered the news, Anzalone was on the receiving end of many angry Tweeters.

Note: Anzalone was receiving hundreds of tweets once the news broke. Many were not appropriate to feature in this article. Here are some of the nicer ones.

One Irish fan says the commitment should have been to the program, not the head coach.

@alexanzalone_24 you don't commit to a coach you commit to a program get #gatorchomped

Somehow Manti Te'o got brought into the conversation, but it sure didn't involve any Heisman Trophies.

@alexanzalone_24 u couldn't even hold manti's jock strap

Stephen Kaplachinski believes that once you make a commitment, you stick by it.

@alexanzalone_24 biggest mistake of your young career. When u grow up you will learn what integrity means. Sad.

Anzalone has his character questioned by another Irish fan:

@Oalexanzalone_24 if it's true, u have no backbone. None. No one can rely on someone that does this @ the last minute.

But not all Notre Dame supporters are big meanies:

@alexanzalone_24 Sorry to see you go. Don't let them get to you. This is your life. UF is a fine school, just make sure you get that degree

— Paul Nelson (@NDIrishManiac) January 10, 2013

There is one Notre Dame fan who may be ready to throw in the towel after hearing the news:

I hate being an #NDFB fan. Stupid @coachbriankelly and @alexanzalone_24 hurting my feelings. #pissy

— Lauren_Flan (@Lauren_Flan) January 10, 2013

Someone decided to remind Anzalone that Florida didn't do so well in its BCS bowl, either:

@alexanzalone_24 wow..Great show of character from you..Florida looking Better than ND after they got smacked by a lesser team in Louisville

— Michael Jenoff (@MJenoff) January 10, 2013

Shots fired!

@alexanzalone_24 What the hell man? Seriously, u r just going to bail on ND Nation? A degree from FL is like a degree from a JUCO. #Pathetic

Louie thinks that Anzalone won't be able to hack it in the competitive SEC:

@alexanzalone_24 Good luck bud. SEC talent is going to run you out the building and Scout Team is your new home

— Louie Ruszkowski (@LouieRutz) January 10, 2013

Could the four-star player really have changed his mind that much?

Even Brett Favre is tired of hearing about @alexanzalone_24 's recruitment on ESPN.

— The Duke (@SonofaM1tch) January 10, 2013

It is so tough being a top recruit these days:

@alexanzalone_24 i think I'm going to OSU nah I'm going to ND but maybe UF no ND I'm done.. then UF. What a clown get over yourself

— Chris Amos (@chrisamos22) January 10, 2013

Could Te'o save the day?

@mteo_5 please get @alexanzalone_24to change his mind! Your tough enough to replace as it is #GoIrish

— Brendan Murnane (@What_Red_Thinks) January 10, 2013

And the tweet of the day goes to...

@alexanzalone_24 i'd hate to be behind you in a drive thru...you'd change your mind three times before you get to the window

— Thomas Cory (@tcory42685) January 10, 2013

It will be interesting to see if this commitment is the one that finally sticks for Anzalone.
