Big News. UK Getting Its Football Stadium Renovation

It’s a big day for the University of Kentucky. President Eli Capilouto announced that Gov. Steve Beshear and state legislators support the school’s self-financing of “a dramatic, $275 million transformation of the campus,” which includes the long-awaited upgrade for Commonwealth Stadium. Through bonding – essentially a loan the school will pay back – UK is planning a $65 million renovation and expansion of the Gatton College of Business and Economics, a $100 million new Academic Science Building, the “lion’s share” of which will be funded by athletics revenues and, of course, the facelift for the football stadium.
