The Giants defense set a new franchise record in 2012 -- but not the kind of record teams like to set.

The Giants' 6,134 yards allowed this season, and 383.4 yards allowed per game, are new highs for the franchise. The Giants have only given up more than 6,000 yards twice in their history: in 2011 and 2012, under defensive coordinator Perry Fewell. Last year's total was 6,022, but the Giants went on to win Super Bowl XLVI with a strong defense down the stretch.
