This is a slideshow of who I think will be picked in the 2009 NFL Draft. Draft Order; Picks 1-10-
01.) Detroit Lions
02.) St. Louis Rams
03.) Kansas City Chiefs
04.) Seattle Seahawks
05.) Cleveland Browns
06.) Cincinatti Bengals
07.) Oakland Raiders
08.) Jacksonville Jaguars
09.) Green Bay Packers
10.) San Francisco 49ers
1st Overall Pick- The Detroit Lions select QB Matthew Stafford, Georgia
The Lions have never really had a franchise quarterback in a while. Jon Kitna was traded to Dallas, and the somewhat recent adding of Julian Peterson, the Lions can focus on their offense.
2009 Record: 4-12
2nd Overall Pick- The St. Louis Rams select LT Eugene Monroe, Virgina
With the release of Orlando Pace, the Rams opened up a huge hole. They need to protect QB Marc Bulger. It was a toss-up between Monroe and LB Aaron Curry, but the offensive line could not protect Bulger in 2008.
2009 Record: 6-10
3rd Overall Pick- The Kansas City Chiefs select LB Aaron Curry, Wake Forest
Todd Haley and Co. breath a sigh of relief when the Rams selected Monroe. They have a franchise QB in Matt Cassel, and they can focus on the defensive side of the ball.
2009 Record: 6-10
4th Overall Pick- The Seattle Seahawks select LT Jason Smith, Baylor
The Seahawks were almost guaranteed to select WR Michael Crabtree, but the signing of T.J. Houshmandzadeh filled that need. The Seahawks can groom Smith for a few years and he will be ready when Walter Jones retires.
2009 Record: 7-9
5th Overall Pick- The Cleveland Browns select DT B.J. Raji, Boston College
Shaun Rodgers has made some noise about wanting out of Cleveland, but it appears maybe fences will be mended. But should the Browns choose to go in another direction, there is no better nose tackle available in this year's NFL Draft.
2009 Record: 6-10
6th Overall Pick- The Cincinnati Bengals select LB Rey Maualuga, USC
The Bengals have needed a man in the middle for years. Maualuga is an animal and will provide a big boost to the defense. The Bengals still are in a re-building phase.
2009 Record: 6-10
7th Overall Pick- The Oakland Raiders select WR Michael Crabtree, Texas Tech
Oakland has not had a true receiving corps. since Tim Brown, Jerry Rice, and Jerry Porter lit it up with Rich Gannon in 2002. With Raji going to Cleveland, the only other possible pick went off the board. The most logical thing to do would be to trade down and get the Philadelphia's 21 and 28 picks, but we know Al Davis. Look for JaMarcus Russell to have a breakout year and the 3-Headed monster of Darren McFadden, Justin Fargas, and Michael Bush to reign terror on opposing defenses. The Raiders are 2009's Atlanta Falcons, do not be surprised if the Raiders get the automatic bid from winning the weak AFC West.
2009 Record: 8-8
8th Overall Pick- The Jacksonville Jaguars select WR Jeremy Maclin, Missouri
With Crabtree off the board, Jacksonville takes Maclin from the 'Zou. Maclin is a superstar who looks like he runs faster with pads on than without. He is a threat to take it to the house everytime he touches the ball. The Jaguars got a player here. The Jaguars bounce back this year and the AFC South sews up the two wild-card births early, the South is the best division in the AFC. Total toss-up between the Jaguars, Colts, Texans, and Titans on who wins the division.
2009 Record: 9-7
9th Overall Pick- The Green Bay Packers select DE/OLB Everette Brown, Florida State
With their switch to a 3-4 defense in 2009, the Packers will be eyeing anyone who will help transition to that scheme. Brown would be a perfect fit at rush linebacker for the team, or they could look at a nose tackle like B.J. Raji out of Boston College if he happens to still be on the board.
2009 Record: 8-8
10th Overall Pick- The San Francisco 49ers select QB Mark Sanchez, USC
No desperate needs on the 49ers except the QB position. Alex Smith, J.T. O'Sullivan, Shaun Hill, and Jamie Martin are not the answers at QB. Alex Smith looks like a bust at this point, but the team did get some competent play out of Shaun Hill in 2008. Unless they are convinced, however, that Hill is their guy for the foreseeable future, they shouldn't let Sanchez slip past them. Sanchez is a guy who needs to go to a club that can afford to let him sit for a season and learn, and Hill should be good enough to bridge the gap until the rookie is ready to take over.
2009 Record: 7-9
