Avery Follows Chris Chelios, Brad Marsh, Wayne Gretzky, and Tim Horton

New York Rangers' bouncer Sean Avery is joining Don Cherry, Wayne Gretzky, Chris Chelios, Brad Marsh, and Tim Horton, not to mention Stan Mikita.

Avery is adding the food business to a busy resume that already includes Hollywood movies, the fashion industry and starring on a team promoted as Sean Avery And The Revamped Rangers.

He is getting into the bar business, with two partners, in Manhattan. Avery is in good company.

Cherry has a chain of restaurants called Don Cherry's Grapevine and Don Cherry's Sports Grill. Wayne Gretzky has a restaurant in Toronto, not far from the Hockey Hall of Fame, called Wayne Gretzky's.

Chris Chelios owns Cheli's Chili Bar in Detroit. Brad Marsh has Marshy's B-B-Q & Grill in Ottawa, plus a new location in Nepean, Ontario. Shayne Corson is the former owner of Shayne's 27 in Montreal.

And there are more Tim Horton's Donuts locations in Canada than McDonald's, plus another 500 in the USA, which are something like Stan Mikita’s Donuts in the Mike Myers comedy Wayne’s World.

Avery is sharing ownership duties at a new nightspot in a neighbourhood in lower Manhattan, called Warren 77. The other owners are Chris Miller, a former art dealer, and Matt Abramcyk, who runs a New York bar called Smith and Mills as well as the Beatrice Inn.

The new eatery is named after its address, 77 Warren Street. It will not be a big sports bar like Don Cherry's or Wayne Gretzky's, it will have six tables seating up to 36 in the restaurant area and five tables seating up to 14 in the bar.

Rumour has it there will be a Zen meditation room called Warren Peace.
 
The new movie in the works, based on Avery's journal published in Men's Vogue, about his experience as an intern at Vogue magazine, now has a name, too. The working title is Puckface, which might make a good name for a restaurant.
