File this under the letter "U" for "unexpected".

We had so many rumors, so many names mentioned. Our series profiled five coaches and the coach Virginia gets was not even on the radar.

Heck he wasn't even on the map.

Tony Bennett.

No, not the geriatric crooner who left his heart in San Francisco.

Our guy is 39 years old and left his job in Pullman, WA to take the reigns of the Virginia Cavaliers.

The former Washington State Cougar coach is coming to Charlottesville, bringing a three-year head coaching record of 68-30 and the 2007 AP Coach of the Year trophy under his belt.

The Cougars have reached the postseason in each of the three seasons under Bennett, including an NIT bid this year featuring tons of underclassmen.

This is definitely not the home run hire Virginia fans expected but is it the right one?

More on this later.
