Ray Rice's Playoff Fumble History and More AFC North News

In Bill Barnwell's Grantland recap of the weekend's Wild Card playoff games, he discusses what has caused Baltimore Ravens running back Ray Rice to fumble more often in the postseason than he does in the regular season.

Breaking down the numbers, Barnwell determines that in the regular season, Rice fumbles once for every 218 touches, while in the playoffs, that dips to once every 30.4. Barnwell briefly examines whether this is a postseason phenomenon or something simply random.

 

Baltimore Ravens

Aaron Wilson of the Baltimore Sun reports that the Baltimore Ravens have released outside linebacker Sergio Kindle from their practice squad, marking the end of his three-year tenure with the team. He had one career regular season tackle and missed his rookie year after fracturing his skull in a fall before training camp.

Cincinnati Bengals

Although Cincinnati Bengals offensive coordinator Jay Gruden has at least two interviews lined up for other teams' head coaching vacancies, Kevin Kelly and Joe Reedy of the Cincinnati Enquirer report that no team has yet requested an interview with the Bengals defensive coordinator, Mike Zimmer.

Alex Peterman of Bleacher Report wonders if Andy Dalton really is the Bengals quarterback of the future.

 

Cleveland Browns

Mary Kay Cabot of the Cleveland Plain Dealer reports that while the Cleveland Browns are set to interview Montreal Alouettes head coach Marc Trestman and Indianapolis Colts offensive coordinator Bruce Arians for their own head coaching vacancy, there's no news about bigger-name potential interviewees like Alabama's Nick Saban, Notre Dame's Brian Kelly, or former coach and television analyst Jon Gruden.

Bleacher Report's James Dudko, however, says that the Browns should go after Arizona Cardinals defensive coordinator Ray Horton, now that Chip Kelly and Doug Marrone are out of the picture.

 

Pittsburgh Steelers
