Here's Why Christian Ponder Didn't Play

It was overshadowed by the injury suffered by Washington Redskins quarterback Robert Griffin III on Sunday, but RG3 wasn't the only playoff quarterback to make news over Wild Card Weekend because of an injury.

Minnesota Vikings quarterback Christian Ponder was a surprise scratch just hours before the Vikings' playoff game against the Green Bay Packers. After backup Joe Webb played horribly in a 24-10 loss, many fans took to the Internet to express their outrage over Ponder's lack of toughness.

Well, folks, here's a look at the bruise that kept Ponder on the sidelines.

Add that lovely looking little photo to ESPN's Kevin Seifert's assertion that Ponder couldn't throw a football more than 15 yards in pregame workouts, and this is a matter that should be settled.

If you think Webb looked bad Saturday night, try rolling out a quarterback who can't, you know, throw.
