The Rockets waived rookie point guard Scott Machado on Monday, opening a roster spot for the expected addition of guard Patrick Beverley. The team signed Beverley to a three-year deal last week, contingent on him receiving his release from his contract in the Russian League and from FIBA. Machado played in just six games this season between stints in the NBA Development League. Undrafted after leading the NCAA in assists last season with Iona, Machado earned a place on the team with strong summer league and preseason showings.
