Every team in the 2013 NFL Playoffs has that one guy that can carry them to victory. While they may not be the league's most valuable player, these stars are the ones who step up when the moment is biggest and lift their team to the next level.
A plethora of rookies have emerged as legitimate playmakers in the NFL this season. But do they have what it takes to get their teams to the next level in their first season in the league?
Let’s take a look at a few “go-to” guys who are going to help their team to victory at least once in the 2013 NFL Playoffs.
Peyton Manning, Denver Broncos
Is there anyone else you’d rather have behind center in the playoffs for your franchise? Manning was a huge signing for the Broncos this past offseason and the team will hope it pays dividends.
If the Broncos win two playoff games, one more than in 2012, they’ll reach the Super Bowl for the first time since 1998.
Manning is going to put his team on his shoulders and win at least one game with his arm during this postseason.
Matt Ryan, Atlanta Falcons
Ryan will finally help his Falcons team get over the hump by playing his best football during this year’s postseason. The team is winless in the playoffs but has made the postseason in three of the last four years with Ryan under center.
Ryan and the Falcons have shifted from a run-first offense to a pass-heavy unit under new offensive coordinator Dirk Koetter. That’s been a big part of Ryan’s career year and the success of the offense.
Watch as the fifth-year QB finally wins his first playoff game, no matter who is up first for the Falcons in the divisional round.
Andrew Luck, Indianapolis Colts
The Indianapolis Colts are going to need to lean heavily on their rookie QB. Luck helped turn around the team from a 2-14 finish in 2011 to a wild-card playoff team this season.
Now it is time for him to take the next step.
Baltimore limped its way into the playoffs due to offensive struggles and a diminished presence on the defensive side of the ball. The Ravens' propensity to give up big plays makes them sitting ducks for the youngster and his arsenal of explosive options.
