Full time result:
Mansfield Town 1 (Matt Green)
Liverpool 2 (Daniel Sturridge, Luis Suarez)
So Liverpool move into the Fourth Round of the FA Cup and will play Oldham Athletic near the end of January.
Strikers Daniel Sturridge and Luis Suarez scored the goals, before Matt Green's consolation with 10 minutes left made it an interesting finish. In truth Liverpool were far better but didn't take their first half chances, leaving the game open for Mansfield to mount a comeback.
For the Reds it's simply a matter of job done, and they will now look forward to next week's game against Manchester United.
Mansfield will take heart from their second half performance as they seek to improve on their mid-table placing in the Blue Square Premier League.

Full time in the FA Cup
Mansfield Town 1 Liverpool 2
90+3'—Suarez beats two men down the right channel but Marriott is out to grab the ball off his toes at the near post. Mansfield immediately send the ball forward but Robinson clears with conviction.
...it goes into the danger area but is half cleared, before Jones dives on top of the loose ball.
90+1'—Out of nothing, Green has hit a fine strike from 25 yards. Jones dives on the stretch and pushes the ball away for another throw in which will be hurled into the area.
90'—Downing goes blazing down the right channel and beats the defenders between him and the goal—but overruns the ball and it goes through to Marriott. Green thinks he has a chance at the other end but Jones saves, and he was miles offside anyway.
Four added minutes to be played.
89'—Yellow card for Flanagan who goes flying in on Rhead. Free kick near the corner flag and we're into the final 60 seconds of normal time.
88'—Suarez is then taken out by a late challenge in one of the lesser-grassy areas of the pitch. The crowd aren't very happy with him but it's a clear free kick.
87'—Geohageon lines up another long throw into the box, but Carragher heads clear dominantly.
85'—Final five minutes of the game. Mansfield smell the chance of a replay; Liverpool are trying to keep calm and keep possession.
83'—Mansfield have thrown on their big man up front, that's Matt Rhead, and everything is going to be aimed to him now. Brad Jones stays solid with a big punch clear from a ball into the box.
Well, well! Less than 10 minutes left now and Mansfield are within one goal of the Premier League side. Daniel's cross from the left is pulled back and Green is there to power home past the combination on the line of Jones and Coates. 2-1 to Liverpool.

GOOOOOOAAAALLLLL!!!!!
Mansfield Town 1 Liverpool 2
Matt Green, 79 mins
Liverpool sub: Jon Flanagan comes on for Wisdom.
A fan has also come onto the pitch, which the stewards are dealing with as we have a break in play.
77'—Andre Wisdom is down with cramp and needing some attention; the heavy pitch just starting to make a few players look tired as we move into the final stages of the game.
76'—Suarez battles his way into the area and feeds Downing on the right, but though his cross finds Shelvey on the far post the midfielder can't get his shot on target. Still 2-0.
73'—Wisdom does now concede a free kick for an overly-physical battle on the touchline. Mansfield must make the most of these situations if they are to get back into the game...but it's easily cleared again by Liverpool's defence.
71'—Shouts go up for a handball by Wisdom in the box—the referee's whistle sounds and the crowd get excited, but it's actually gone for an offside against Green.

70'—Into the final 20 minutes of the game and Liverpool are looking comfortable with their two-goal lead, though not as dominant as in the first half. Mansfield of course must keep coming forward and the Reds are happy to try and hit them on the break with the pace of Downing and Suarez.
67'—Great chance for Liverpool to wrap the game up. On the counter, Downing feeds Suarez through the centre who feeds Shelvey first time, but the attacking midfielder's shot drifts across the face of goal and wide.
0 - The last time Liverpool kept a clean sheet in the FA Cup was in the 2008/09 3rd Round, in a 2-0 win over Preston. Vulnerable.

Mansfield sub: Louis Briscoe on, Junior Daniel on.
62'—The crowd has been quietened by that second goal but they were almost loud again there as Green beats the offside trap—but his shot curls well over the bar. Poor effort in the end.
Liverpool go two goals up just before the hour mark thanks to a 19th goal of the season for Luis Suarez. Shelvey switches play with a good pass and Downing passes into the area for Suarez; his initial shot is saved, rebounds off the goalkeeper back onto the striker and he taps home from close range. Mansfield want a handball against Suarez but the ball hit him on the rebound from very close distance—it was never a foul. 2-0 Liverpool.
