The topic of The Ultimate Warrior and the WWE Hall of Fame is something that seems to come up each and every year around this time. While I do believe that he deserves a spot among the greats for his accomplishments, would it be smart? Will The Ultimate Warrior ever be inducted?
WWE and Warrior have made strides throughout their controversial history to do proper business together from time to time. Each time there was a major disagreement, there ended up being some kind of resolution.
We all know about how The Ultimate Warrior held Vince McMahon up for more money right before the main event of SummerSlam 1991, causing the immediate termination of his contract after the match.
However, in the interest of giving the fans what they want, Vince McMahon brought Warrior back into the fold at WrestleMania 8 for a few months and then brought him back prior to WrestleMania 12 for another short run.
The relationship was so inconsistent that it left a bad taste in the mouths of all parties involved.
Multiple lawsuits were filed back and forth by Warrior and WWE throughout the years, with Warrior regaining the use of the gimmick. licensing, face paint, ring attire and mannerisms of The Ultimate Warrior character that WWE claimed was their copyright.
After all the legal battles were over, Warrior went on record about his ill will toward Vince McMahon and the WWE brass. Hell, WWE even produced a scathing DVD called The Self Destruction of the Ultimate Warrior
that left a terrible taste in Warrior’s mouth for years.
It has been confirmed (according to wrestlinginc.com) that The Ultimate Warrior will indeed be appearing over WrestleMania weekend at the WrestleCon fan convention. Does this add to the notion that he could be getting inducted?
Could there be a deal behind closed doors between The Ultimate Warrior and WWE? Nobody seems to know and that is the way it should stay. It would be a huge surprise if he was announced as a inductee this year.
If WWE cuts a deal with The Ultimate Warrior, there is no telling what the ramifications could be. Do you really want to give this guy an open mic on one of your biggest nights of the year?
While watching some clips of various interviews done by Warrior, it is evident that he is somewhat of a loose cannon. You just never know what is going to come out of his mouth.
He has provided some of the most unique, mind-boggling promos that the wrestling world has ever heard, so who knows what he could say if given a WWE microphone in a shoot environment.
Quite frankly, there are more honorable and deserving wrestlers that could be inducted next year at WrestleMania 29. Even though my gut tells me that this could be a bad idea, the little kid in me would love to see The Ultimate Warrior have an opportunity to run full speed to the ring one more time at WrestleMania!
Should The Ultimate Warrior be inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame in 2013?
