Williams was almost defiant in listening to all the talk about the Tigers, especially when that talk would gain steam in the offseason because Detroit seemed to make better moves than the Sox. Even after the Tigers acquired Miguel Cabrera in December 2007, Williams insinuated that now maybe the Tigers could draw closer to his Sox, rather than it being his team in the chase.
