The first edition of TNA Impact! Wrestling in 2013 opened with a video package recapping the latest events that occurred on previous shows.

Announcer Jeremy Borash opened up the show by introducing the finalists for the TNA "Wrestler of the Year" award. Borash brought out Bully Ray, James Storm, Bobby Roode, Austin Aries and Jeff Hardy. After Aries and Roode began arguing on why they won the award, Hardy was announced the winner.

Hardy entered the ring and thanked the wrestling fans for his award. However, Roode interrupted Hardy's celebration when he went into the ring and began to talk about his major accomplishments in 2012. After Aries walked to the ring and began to again argue with Roode, Hardy took control of the microphone and proposed a three-way match for the TNA World Heavyweight Championship at Genesis.

Suddenly, Roode and Aries attacked Hardy. However, Hardy fought his way back and took out both Roode and Aries.

Match No. 1: James Storm vs. Kazarian.

Your winner via pin fall: James Storm. Impact! Wrestling began 2013 with a very good opening match. The work done by Daniels and Kazarian has just been very solid and Storm got off to a good start in the new year with the victory.

Match Rating: 3.5/5.

After a commercial break, D.O.C. from Aces and Eights made his way from the audience to the ring. He began to ask where Sting was and invited him to join the party. D.O.C. turned up the volume by speaking louder on the microphone and demanded Sting to come forward to the ring. A black bat dropped from the ceiling, which made D.O.C. continue to ask where Sting was.

Match No. 2: Kid Kash vs. Christian York.

Your winner via pin fall: Christian York. Unimpressive match that was simply too quick. Unfortunately, it did not live up to a quality X-Division match.

Match Rating: 2.5/5.

Match No. 3: Hernandez vs. Joey Ryan.

Your winner via disqualification: Hernandez. After Ryan quickly struggled to gain any momentum in the early parts of the match, Morgan slipped into the ring and attacked Hernandez. This was hardly a singles match, as it was extremely short.

Match Rating: 0.5/5.

Hulk Hogan makes his way towards the ring and called out his daughter, Brooke, and Ray. Hogan began the discussion by asking Ray about his involvement with Brooke. Ray said he should have told Hogan first before getting involved with his daughter. Hogan fired back in disappointment and suspended Ray without pay. He then turned his attention to Brooke and told her to leave the ring.

Match No. 4: Gail Kim and Tara vs. Mickie James and Miss Tessmacher.

Your winners via pin fall: Mickie James and Miss Tessmacher. TNA did a very good job of giving the Knockouts division plenty of time to develop an exciting tag team match. A very enjoyable match to watch.

Match Rating: 4/5.

Match No. 5: Aces and Eights (Devon and Masked Man) vs. Kurt Angle and Samoa Joe in a steel cage.

Your winners via pin fall: Kurt Angle and Samoa Joe. Aces and Eights were in complete control of this match until Angle was able to finally get in the ring to help Joe. This was a pretty decent cage match with good action towards the tail end of it.

Match Rating: 3/5.

After the match, more members of Aces and Eights arrived to the ring to attack Angle and Joe. Sting made his return by walking toward the ring, and he took out all the members of Aces and Eights with his black baseball bat. With just one more person of Aces and Eights left in the ring, Angle unmasked the member. That member was revealed to be Mike Knox. Knox and the rest of Aces and Eights headed backstage as Impact! Wrestling ended.
