Bill Walsh: A Legend Passes Away

Zander FreundSenior Writer IJuly 30, 2007
IconBill Walsh, former coach of the San Francisco 49ers, died today at 75 years of age after fighting a long battle with leukemia.

Walsh changed the way the game of football was played, inventing the West Coast Offense and developing three of the greatest players of all time in Joe Montana, Jerry Rice, and Ronnie Lott.

Walsh won three Super Bowls as the head coach of the 49ers and brought a legacy to the organization that still stands today.  He touched the hearts of fans all around the Bay Area and we will miss him very much.

EVERYONE: please sign the following petition, which requests that in honor of Bill Walsh, the Niners wear throw-back 80's style uniforms for the upcoming season.

I wish Walsh's family all the best.  Legends never die—may you rest in peace Mr. Walsh.
