Rangers Fighting Canadiens and Panthers For Their Playoff Lives in The East

The race for the final playoff spots in the Eastern Conference intensified tonight with a loss by the New York Rangers (87 points, Pittsburgh Penguins), a win by the Florida Panthers (85-points, Dallas Stars) and an overtime loss by the Montreal Canadiens (86-points, Buffalo Sabres).

The Carolina Hurricanes are just two points ahead of the Rangers, with 89 and both the Penguins and the Philadelphia Flyers are one point ahead of them, in fourth place with 90-points.

The Rangers and the Panthers have just six games left and the Canadiens have seven.
