The Chicago Cubs have had a very interesting winter. They were one of the busiest teams with free-agent signings, but, oddly enough, only one of the position players they signed was ranked in the top 100 position player free-agent list according to CBSSports.com. That player was Nate Schierholtz (ranked No. 23).

The Cubs did make a couple of big splashes this winter. They were in the running for Anibal Sanchez then ended up signing Edwin Jackson instead. They also signed Japanese closer Kyuji Fujikawa.

That was pretty much the extent of the Cubs making a big splash this winter.

Even still, those moves may have been a bigger splash than most Cubs fans expected.  The Cubs may not have nabbed any of the big-name free agents available, but they did address many of their needs moving into the 2013 season.

Most of the free agents the Cubs signed have been pitchers, and rightly so, as the rotation was arguably the weakest part of the Cubs team in 2012. However, some question marks still remain on the field, most notably at third base and in the outfield.

Even though the hot stove isn’t quite as hot as it was about a month ago, there are still some rumors lingering around the Cubbies and how they may address some of the question marks surrounding the team.

Here are five rumors that remain floating around the Cubs as the team prepares for the 2013 season.
