Odds on Who Will Replace Lovie Smith as Bears Head Coach

Aaron NaglerNFL National Lead WriterJanuary 2, 2013

Black Monday has come and gone and left a bunch of NFL head coaching vacancies in its wake.  The Chicago Bears, under the direction of second-year general manager Phil Emery, ended the Lovie Smith era and are now casting a net far and wide around the NFL and college football coaching ranks to try and find their next head coach.

While Smith was clearly loved by his players, his inability to find any kind of consistency on the offensive side of the ball greased the rails for his departure out of town. Emery, in his end-of-year press conference, made it clear that missing the 2012 playoffs was not the only reason Smith was shown the door, but it certainly played a role in Emery's decision.

To get the Bears back into the playoffs and competing for championships, Emery will most likely have to find a coach with roots on the offensive side of the ball. Getting Jay Cutler and the offense on track will clearly be the top priority for whoever comes into this job.

In the video above, I take a look at a few of the candidates who have been reported to be in the running and give you what I think the odds are on each becoming the next head coach of the Chicago Bears.

Let us know where you agree or disagree and give us any candidates you think I might have missed in the comments below.
