I've been a Duke basketball fan for as long as I can remember. Through the good times and through some of the rough spots(and yes we've has a few).

However, the past several years have been absolutely perplexing for me. When you look at a Duke roster, one of the first things you notice are the several high school All-Americans. We've never had a problem landing them. Top ten recruiting classes are the norm for Duke.

If you look a little closer, however, you'll see a glaring weakness in these classes: the Giants are just not there. This weakness has affected Duke greatly.

There are very few games where Duke holds the rebounding edge. Most big men on the opposing teams have their best games when they play Duke.

I posted the picture of Kyle Singler because this is Coach K's ideal big man the past several years. Singler is a great player, don't get me wrong. But at 6'8" and 220 pounds, he can't be expected to constantly crash the boards or post up with the big boys. Put simply, he has been recruited into a system that seeks shooters.

Duke has an abundance of shooters, but lacks any type of an interior presence. The high school ranks are full of big men. I believe that Duke is missing out on these players because the system in place makes them only roll players.

For Duke to move forward, they must be willing to change. It must be able to throw these 6'10, 260 pound giants into the mix. So I ask you, Coach K, where are the Giants?
