The best pitcher I’ve ever seen was Pedro Martinez in his prime, but as I wrote in today's Herald, if my life depended on that proverbial one start, I’d hand the ball to Curt Schilling and sleep like a baby. The Big Schill is Hall of Fame eligible for the first time, and it’s mystifying that his candidacy is considered such a longshot. One writer freely admits he’ll vote Schilling chiefly to ensure he reaches the 5 percent minimum threshold to remain on the ballot.
