The Buffalo Bills avenged their Week 1 loss at home to the New York Jets by beating them in Week 17, winning on the road by a score of 28-9.
Ryan Fitzpatrick failed to complete even half his passes, but he made the most of his opportunities, throwing for 225 yards and a touchdown on 12 completions—including a gorgeous 66-yard touchdown pass to running back C.J. Spiller.
Spiller also carried the ball 24 times for 59 yards, and though he struggled to produce on the ground, his steady attack softened up the Jets defense for Fitzpatrick and the passing attack.
Stevie Johnson was the biggest beneficiary of Spiller's efforts, as he finished the game with six catches for 111 yards.
Mark Sanchez was back in action after a week off, due to Greg McElroy's concussion, but he picked right up where he left off. Sanchez only threw one interception, but it so happened that his one mistake was picked off by Bryan Scott, who ran it back 20 yards for a touchdown.
Shonn Greene and Bilal Powell performed well in defeat, combining for 130 yards on 31 carries.
Both teams finished the season outside playoff contention.
