The Indianapolis Colts welcomed back head coach Chuck Pagano to the sidelines and defeated the Houston Texans at home in Week 17, winning by a score of 28-16.
Pagano received a standing ovation before the game, and the Colts gave the home crowd something to cheer about the rest of the way.
Andrew Luck weathered the storm brought by J.J. Watt and the Texans' front seven to throw two crucial touchdown passes, and he led a turnover-free offensive attack that kept the chains moving with nine third-down conversions through the air.
Fellow rookie Vick Ballard was impressive on the ground against one of the best run defenses in the NFL, rushing for 78 yards and a touchdown on 27 carries.
T.Y. Hilton rounded out the group as the third rookie for the Colts to put up big numbers in this game, catching four passes for 111 yards—including a gorgeous 70-yard touchdown catch on a strike from Luck.
Matt Schaub had a miserable game in defeat, throwing two interceptions and getting sacked four times.
Arian Foster put up good numbers in defeat, rushing for 96 yards and one touchdown on 16 carries, but he was banged up a bit with a sore ankle.
The Colts will face the Baltimore Ravens next week in the wild-card round, while the Texans may be in line to host the Cincinnati Bengals, should the New England Patriots win at home against the Miami Dolphins this Sunday.
