Alabama Crimson Tide quarterback A.J. McCarron may be preparing to win his second BCS National Championship when his team takes on the Notre Dame Fighting Irish on Jan. 7, but it's become recently apparent that the young man is already winning in life.
According to the folks over at Busted Coverage, McCarron is currently dating Katherine Webb, who is the reigning Miss Alabama for 2012. Certainly, there are back pats and applause due for the Alabama signal-caller, but Ms. Webb is not all beauty and crimson red.
She is, in fact—gasp—an Auburn graduate. How, then, did these two star-crossed lovers come to meet across the SEC battle grounds? According to Busted Coverage, they met through Twitter (of course they did):
Webb, 23, graduated from Auburn in 2011, went on to win Miss Alabama 2012, took a job with Chick-fil-A as a training director and somehow started chatting with McCarron on Twitter (@_KatherineWebb) as the Tide were closing in on the SEC championship.
While it may surprise some in the elderly community that two people could meet over the "tweeter machine," I'm more flabbergasted that Ms. Webb used to work at Chick-fil-A. Obviously, we all need to stop going through the drive-thru when ordering our chicken nuggets, folks.
Still, Webb's presence prior to the national championship may spark some theories in Tuscaloosa that she's trying to sabotage the heated rival. Well, rest your weary heads, Crimson Tide nation, as Webb denied that she is a saboteur to Sonya Sorich of the Ledger Inquirer.
“I’m not trying to sabotage Alabama,” Webb said.
Methinks she doth protest too much (kidding). But as for why McCarron would date the enemy so close to the biggest game of his life, I think we found couple pretty good reasons on Webb's Twitter page:
Well played, McCarron.
