The Miami Heat got off to a sizzling start on Friday night, but the Detroit Pistons battled back to shock the defending champions at the Palace of Auburn Hills, 109-99.
While the Heat shot 51 percent for the game, their defense failed them as the Pistons shot 58 percent from the field. That included 64 bench points, led by point guard Will Bynum.
Detroit was also 12-of-19 from downtown, while Miami was 9-of-29 from beyond the arc.
The Heat fell to 20-7, while the Pistons improved to 10-22.

Will Bynum was on fire off the bench on Friday, racking up 25 points and 10 assists while shooting 10-of-16 from the floor.
The sixth-year guard posted a plus-minus of plus-17 in 28 minutes of play and backed up his 31-point effort on Wednesday against the Atlanta Hawks.
