TAMPA, FL - MARCH 13: Head coach Billy Gillispie of the Kentucky Wildcats argues a call during the game against the Louisiana State University Tigers during the second round of the SEC Men's Basketball Tournament on March 13, 2009 at The St. Pete Times Forum in Tampa, Florida. University of Kentucky basketball coach Billy Gillispie was fired on Friday.  The reasons why are many to talk about.

He was a wonderful recruiter and motivator but he was horrible at substitutions. He played Michael Porter way too many minutes when the freshman DeAndre Liggins was already doing better than him.  Porter could make 10 mistakes in a row and Gillispie would keep him in the game.

I also noticed that whenever one of our players would get hot he would take them out right when we got close to the other team.

Also, if he was smart he would make plays centered around Jodie Meeks and Patrick Patterson so they could score more and help their team out a lot more.

I think that Kentucky should hire a former player in Travis Ford from Oklahoma State.  He is a great coach in my eyes and a perfect fit.

Of course, Gillispie should not get all of the blame because he can't play for the players and can only coach them.  If you have that much talent, you need to find a way to win with it!
