Cole Luke, a 4-star recruit from Hamilton High School in Chandler, Arizona, has the opportunity to earn serious playing time in his freshman year.
Yes folks, he's that good. Any football team at any level needs depth in the secondary and Luke offers that immediately.
Listed at 6'0" and 170 pounds by 247Sports, Luke is considered a 4-star recruit with the major ranking agencies. 247Sports composite ranking has him as the twelfth-best cornerback in this class and the 132nd overall prospect.
ESPN Insider (membership required) provided the following scouting report on Luke:
Luke is a rangy cornerback prospect with a lot of ability and upside. The key to his success at the next level will be physical development. He has the height, length and athleticism needed to match up on perimeter with today's bigger college receivers but needs to get bigger. He excels in tight coverages and will only get better as he increases upper-body strength and becomes more explosive. He has good play speed but better range, which makes safety a possibility if he adds the required bulk. He's smart with good anticipation and awareness skills.
Another possibility for Luke is as a kick and punt returner at the next level. He shows good burst, vision and elusiveness with the ball in his hands, and was a threat to take any interception or fumble recovery to the house as a high school player.
His highlight reel showcases a player with good cover skills, plus instincts and a knack for finding pay dirt once he gets his hands on the ball.
