Superstar wide receiver and 5-star college prospect Robbie Rhodes is the top wideout in the 2013 class, as well as the No. 29 overall national football recruit, according to the 247Sports rankings.
With Rhodes on his way to the next level, college football fans know that they are getting a promising player with an unlimited ceiling. The speed and physical nature of the college game will force him to up his performance right away, but when he gets the hang of it, the possibilities are endless. Expect to see a lot of highlights on Saturdays.
Listed at 6'1", 189 pounds, Rhodes already has a great wide receiver's frame, with the ability to add more strength as his body fills out. He is very lanky, with long arms and legs that allow him to snatch the ball out of the air against smaller defensive backs.
In addition to being able to use his size, Rhodes has great speed and burst off the line of scrimmage. He is able to run by anyone on the field with the precise route-running ability that you rarely see from such a young player.
The most important tool for any receiver is his hands, and Rhodes' are very good. He likes to catch the ball with his hands rather than his body, which allows him to go up and make the spectacular catch and steal the ball away from defenders in traffic.
Already a tremendous athlete, Rhodes might be the most physically gifted wide receiver in this year's recruiting class. He is not the biggest receiver in the world, but he does know how to use every inch of his 6'1" frame, and his hands push him into the top tier of players in this recruiting class.
Rhodes could step into the fold right away and be one of the five best receivers in the game next season.
