Boston 77, Los Angeles 106 - Final
How did the Los Angeles Clipper win?
Great Start
The Clipper jumped out on the Boston Celtics early in the first quarter.
They opened up a 10-point lead after the first quarter and never let up. More than the final score of the that quarter it was how quickly things happened. Boston was limited to just four points, and no one besides Paul Pierce scored until six minutes into the game.
That defense set a tone that carried throughout, that the Clippers were going to get stops. The second half of the first quarter was spent setting the tone of offense. They were getting any shot they wanted early and that immediately cast doubt in the Celtics' minds.
That doubt spread throughout the game and caused the Celtics to never really have a chance.
Superior Depth
The Celtics were the premier example of a deep team leading into the 2012-13 season, but a game against the Clippers showed how truly shallow they are.
The depth of Los Angeles was evident in the play of reserves Jamal Crawford and Matt Barnes. Barnes and Crawford finished the game as the two top-scorers and both come off the bench. Barnes led everyone with 21 points, while Crawford chipped in 17.

Lamar Odom grabbed 13 rebounds off the bench and contributed four points to a unit that outscored their counterparts 53-29.
Boston had no answer to such top to bottom talent. They were vulnerable inside and out with Jason Collins, Brandon Bass and Jared Sullinger unable to do anything against the Clippers' frontcourt.
Game Management
This subject could really just be Chris Paul.
Paul is the one pervasive part of the Clippers that touches everything they do, often without it seeming that way. His play tonight doesn't appear to be anything special. Eight points, 11 assists, and 3-of-11 shooting isn't great.
Yet there had to be some reason for the massive discrepancy on the scoreboard.
Jayne Kamin-Oncea-USA TODAY Sports
That reason is Paul's game management skills. His 11 assists spawned a feeling and tone in the game for the Clippers to be generous with the ball. This led to 31 assists on 41 baskets.
Paul also took great care of the ball and made sure his teammates did as well. They gave the ball away only eight times to Boston's 18.
All of this illustrated how large an affect Paul can have on a game without putting up the gaudy stats.

Boston 77, Los Angeles 106 - End of Fourth Quarter
This one mercifully ends with the Clippers earning a 29-point win.
We'll be right back with postgame stats and analysis here on Bleacher Report.
Boston 75, Los Angeles 105 - :9 Remaining in Fourth Quarter
Nice to see Ryan Hollins getting some play against the team that did not re-sign him after playing a significant role in 2011-12.
Hollins has four points in six minutes of garbage time for the Clippers.
Boston 75, Los Angeles 105 - :59 Remaining in Fourth Quarter
Clippers starters getting plenty of rest with another game tomorrow night. Almost no sign of them in the fourth quarter. They travel to take on the Jazz Friday night.
The Celtics take a massive hit in the opener of a three-game west coast trip and will look to bounce back at Golden State on Saturday.
Boston 73, Los Angeles 105 - 2:29 Remaining in Fourth Quarter
Fun (or miserable) stat of the night:
The Los Angeles Clippers have a 32-point lead right now, but have shot just 50 percent from the free throw line.
That is correct, the Clippers have missed 11-of-22 free throws tonight, while the Celtics are 11-of-11. This 32-point game could be much much worse.

Boston 71, Los Angeles 96 - 5:52 Remaining in Fourth Quarter
Boston is going to be getting some D-Leaguers playing time here, with Kris Joseph in the game and Jarvis Varnado sure to enter soon.
The Clippers won't be doing the same though. In fact, it is hard to see them subbing out the good players for benchwarmers. This team doesn't have any of them.
The last six minutes of this game are a testament to the depth of this Clippers team. They don't have guys who can do mop-up duty in garbage time.
Boston 69, Los Angeles 92 - 8:12 Remaining in Fourth Quarter
Still not much to talk about here, as this game has followed the Clippers' script step-by-step from the get-go.
The Clippers have attempted 13 more shots than Boston, a virtue of the 15:7 turnover differential.
Blake Griffin and DeAndre Jordan have dominated the grouping of Jared Sullinger, Brandon Bass and Jason Collins.
Chris Paul has expertly run his offense to two 30-point quarters and has 11 assists.
Paul Pierce has been stymied by Caron Butler and Matt Barnes to the tune of 5-of-13 shooting and three turnovers.

Boston 67, Los Angeles 87 - 10:32 Remaining in Fourth Quarter
Matt Barnes scores the first five points of the third quarter. He has a team-high 16 points now.
The three-point line has been his friend tonight, hitting on 4-of-6 treys. It has been friendly for the entire Clippers team tonight, as they are 10-of-23 from long range.

Boston 67, Los Angeles 82 - End of Third Quarter
Not much has changed throughout this game. The story has been the same since the opening tip.
The Clippers bigs have done everything necessary to win, and the Celtics have gotten virtually no important stops.
Their 15 point lead has been built in part by Blake Griffin's 15 points and eight rebounds. Chris Paul is inching closer to another double-double with eight points and 11 assists. Caron Butler is having a stellar game from the small forward position, with 14 points on 6-of-12 shooting.
Kevin Garnett is playing well offensively, but hasn't gotten the job done on the other end. He leads all scorers with 16 points. Paul Pierce has 12 points, but is unable to get a rhythm going against Butler.
Rajon Rondo has hit a couple of threes, including that end of quarter one, but has just 10 points and five assists and hasn't been involved in the game enough for Boston to be in it.

Boston 57, Los Angeles 78 - 2:32 Remaining in Third Quarter
On Chris Paul's 10th assist of the night, the Clippers go up by more than 20 points for the first time.
Caron Butler was on the receiving end of that pass and now has 12 points on the night.
Things have rapidly gotten out of hand for the Celtics defensively as they are in danger of losing yet another quarter by double-digits.
Boston 57, Los Angeles 76 - 3:49 Remaining in Third Quarter
Things are getting a little chippy. Celtics getting frustrated with shots not falling and Blake Griffin attempting to put them all on posters.
However, shoving matches aren't going to get you stops and the Clippers might be running away with this one.
Boston 57, Los Angeles 72 - 4:49 Remaining in Third Quarter
Smart move by the rookie Jared Sullinger. Was about to get posterized by Blake Griffin. Shouldn't be anything more than a foul.
Looks to be a Flagrant 1, but given the players involved, I like the move by Sullinger.

Boston 57, Los Angeles 71 - 5:00 Remaining in Third Quarter
The strangest storyline of the night. With the Clippers leading by 14 points in the third quarter, Chris Paul is 1-of-7 for two points.
In the last game between these two teams, Paul was 3-of-12 from the field. It appears as though the Celtics have his number defensively, but it only appears that way.
In reality, Chris Paul has managed this game fantastically. The Clippers have turned the ball over only four times. They have forced 12 Boston give-aways in comparison. Paul has nine assists to lead all players. He has also infected the Clippers with the assist-gene, as they have 22 as a whole with five minutes remaining in the third quarter.
Boston 57, Los Angeles 69 - 6:00 Remaining in Third Quarter
DeAndre Jordan showing some serious immaturity there, complaining about a call while Kevin Garnett slipped behind him for an easy dunk on a pass from Rajon Rondo.
That is the only easy thing the Celtics have had all night. Their defensive effort just hasn't been there in getting stops and moving rapidly into transition.
Boston 53, Los Angeles 67 - 9:20 Remaining in Third Quarter
Paul Pierce with a mouthful of blood and Chris Paul comes up limping after a collision under the hoop. Both appear to be fine.
The Celtics have done themselves no favors to start the second half after a decent second quarter. Continual lack of defensive intensity has allowed the Clippers to continue building this lead.

Boston 47, Los Angeles 60 - End of Second Quarter
Jamal Crawford and the Clippers successfully closed out the half with their double-digit lead intact.
Crawford's final floater gives him 11 first half points. That makers two Clippers reserves with 11 points in the first half, as Matt Barnes also is there.
Blake Griffin leads all scorers with 14 points on 6-of-8 shooting. DeAndre Jordan has five points and seven rebounds.
For Boston it was a big quarter for Kevin Garnett, who now has ten points. He is joined at 10 by Jason Terry. Jeff Green has six points off the bench.
Boston 45, Los Angeles 55 - :53 Remaining in Second Quarter
Has to be tough to be Jared Sullinger right now. Talented big men who aren't stars as rookies are generally targets for cheap fouls. Sullinger has three in the first half.
Jason Terry is the first Celtic in double-figures with ten points and two threes.
Boston 40, Los Angeles 55 - 1:13 Remaining in Second Quarter
Not reading much into Brandon Bass' seven first-half rebounds. Almost all of them have bounced directly into his arms.
The Celtics can deal with his subpar rebounding skills if he is scoring and hitting mid-range jumpers. Unfortunately he is 1-of-3 tonight and shooting just 43 percent for the season.

Boston 40, Los Angeles 50 - 4:54 Remaining in Second Quarter
The Clippers' bench is continuing what the starting five did in the first quarter.
They have scored 23 points, led by Matt Barnes' 11. Those 11 points lead all scorers. Barnes is now 3-of-4 from beyond the arc.
Eric Bledsoe has been shutting down his man and has come up with three steals, leading to transition buckets.
The Celtics defense is non-existent right now, as the Clippers are shooting 57 percent from the field and given up only two turnovers.
