WWE Royal Rumble 2013: Could Dolph Ziggler Possibly Win?
Since the Money in the Bank briefcase came into existence back in 2005, I always wondered what would happen if the man holding the briefcase also went on to win the Royal Rumble. Could he essentially have two championship matches at WrestleMania? Could there be a chance of another undisputed champion?
WWE has always been in the shock value business. If Dolph Ziggler wins the Royal Rumble, we could have the possibility of the first undisputed champion in WWE since late 2002 when Brock Lesnar became the youngest champion in history.
There are plenty of scenarios that could get to this point, but believe me when I say that WWE has been putting Ziggler in multiple positions to look strong on a more consistent basis for a long time. They see a new, shining star that has an uncanny resemblance to a young Shawn Michaels or Curt Hennig.
This idea may be a bit outside the box, but the championship picture seems to be in complete turmoil heading into WrestleMania 29. Nobody really knows where those championship matches are going to lie and that is the way that WWE likes it.
With all the star power on the show, it is conceivable to me that Ziggler could be put in a situation where a champion versus champion match could work.
For instance, if Ziggler were to win the Royal Rumble, the entire WWE Universe would be buzzing over the fact that Ziggler now holds two guaranteed shots at both major championships in the company. Furthermore, there could always be an angle where he heads into WrestleMania 29 as World Heavyweight Champion and decides to challenge the WWE Champion.
Who will win the 2013 Royal Rumble?
Even better, the angle could work where Ziggler is forced to put his championship on the line. If you want to get the focus back where it belongs and elevate this rising star to the next level, use WrestleMania 29 to do it.
The Royal Rumble match creates stars by the very definition of what the winner represents. Not only does he get a championship match at WrestleMania, but he becomes embedded in history with the rest of the huge stars that have won in the past.
This angle could also bring prestige back to the Royal Rumble, which has lost a lot of its steam over the past few years due to the lackluster results that have taken place with the winners at WrestleMania.
If Dolph Ziggler is the winner of the 30-man extravaganza, he will cement his name in history and have a spot on top of the card that will not be taken away from him. All of that charisma, agility and show-stealing that he has done will finally be worth it.
Is my scenario a little bit out there? Sure, but so is WWE. Anyone who watches and religiously follows the product realizes that situations outside of the box happen from time to time.
Crowning another undisputed champion of WWE at WrestleMania 29 is a scenario that is definitely conceivable to me.
Speaking of "outside the box," could Chris Jericho return and continue his feud with Dolph Ziggler? Will this entire scenario that I proposed have something to do with the first undisputed champion in WWE history?
Only time will tell...
